All items in this section come from, unless otherwise specified, old houses or mansions that have been dismantled to make place for more modern buildings. We have purchased them from scrap dealers who make a living from salvaging what can be saved, once these buildings are down.
Note that it has never been true that we force people in need to sell their house in order to enrich ourselves, as has sometimes been suggested...
Often we have to restore them as they are not always in mint conditions after decades of use and exposure to the natural elements. This keeps the employees of Under the Bo workshop busy and helps them to make a decent living. If we are lucky we can also find items in very good condition and, except for dusting or some brushwork, these items are ready for display.
To preserve the authenticity of tribal items, we have kept them as found, or pretty much so, that is with the patina of soot and dirt in which they were purchased.
