Ancient coins

This collection of coins is centred mostly on two poles : the North-West frontier and Thailand, formerly known as Siam.

Most have been excavated in Afghanistan and Pakistan. The finding of their origin would not have been possible without the following website, extremely well documented: The Coins and History of Asia here. And to get an idea of where all these kingdoms and empires were situated on the map between the first and the 6th centuries, see here.
Also worth checking: COININDIA here
Prabhu's website here
and Nupam's website here

Others were found in rivers or ricefields of present day Thailand, and I would like to thank the Bank of Thailand, and the Revenue Department (Chiang Mai branch) for their interesting exhibits and book. They can also be found on the Net here

But if you notice some inaccuracies in the description of some of the coins here, you are very welcome to inform us : underthebo@antique-arts-asia.com.
